Hi, I’m David

As well as therapist, I was a Headshot Photographer for over 15 years and through that time I’ve photographed thousands of people, many of whom felt anxious, scared and/or vulnerable to have their photo taken.

There can be something exposing about having your photo taken as there’s usually “nowhere to hide”, most people don’t enjoy it and worry about what others will think of them (there is a reason I was behind the camera or I rope in my cat!). I found that taking time to understand clients - their lives, fears and anxieties, hopes and dreams - creates trust and safety. That connection helped not only the photos but the clients themselves - they felt more confident and happy to embrace the challenge.

I think those fears of vulnerability and judgement affect a lot of people and not just when having their photo taken.

And so, several years ago, I started to think about how I could help more people make meaningful, positive changes in their lives in another way, which led to…

Roles We Play

We can all take on different roles in our relationships with others and with ourselves.

Are you a “people pleaser”?

Do you feel like a victim sometimes?

Do you find you judge others and/or yourself harshly?

Do you nurture or critique different relationships?

Are you free to be yourself with others?

Do you feel secure, anxious or avoidant in your relationships?

I help people understand the different roles they play and how that affects their thoughts, emotions, mood and behaviour.

I work with clients on ways to manage issues in the present and look at how their past has influenced them. Through this work, clients are able to process where they are in their life and make positive changes going forward.
